To the editor: In reference to the April 23 edition of the Beacon (page 19A): I enjoy car shows and wish I could have
attended yours. Not meaning to be too nitpicking, I don’t quite understand, with much due respect to Mr. Dick Gasper and his very nice ’57 Chevy, how a two-door post sedan that I’m not sure is a Bel Air from the angle of the picture, with non-original wheels and—heaven forbid—blackwall tires could win Best of Show over Mr. Wade McMickle’s white Bel Air hardtop with whitewalls and skirts.
I am 68 years old and a big fan of ’55 thru ’57 Chevys, although my personal favorite is the ’56.
I get your paper usually a week or two later from a man who lives in upstate South Carolina, but have interests in Holden Beach. I really like all your writers, especially Caroline Curran and Sarah Wilson. Keep up the good work.
