SOUTHPORT—A multi-use senior center in the works for Southport has been awarded $250,000 in federal funds.
According to Brunswick Senior Resources Inc. Director Jim Russell, the proposed senior center would likely cost about $2 million, with county commissioners appropriating roughly three fourths of total cost.
Even with the county commitment and the recently federal appropriations, Russell said additional funds are still needed for furnishings and other equipment.
