Area personalities will be twinkling, twirling and two-stepping Friday night to help Brunswick County college students have a brighter future.

The Brunswick Community College Foundation's fifth annual Dancing with the Brunswick Stars begins at 6 p.m. at the Dinah E. Gore Fitness and Aquatics Center on the Brunswick Community College campus.

This year, 15 local celebrities have been paired with professional dancers to compete for the title at the event. Modeled after the hit television show on ABC, competitors work on their performances with their professional partners for weeks. Then all of the couples gather to show off their moves at the charity event.

Stars and pros competing in this year’s event are Tom Adams and Debra Hughes; Randy Aldridge and Jessica Baltos; Bud Azzato and Ashley Stewart; Jim Fish and Jada Gonzalez; Clif Cheek and Brianna Bell; Peggy Lewis and Paul McTaggart; Arthur Mallory and Sara Misiti Clemmons; Allan Cheatham and Holly Knepp; Jennifer Beasley and Davis Canady; Lydia Chandler and Phillip McGee; Nichole Harding and Dan Chop; Cindy Hewett and Juan Gonzalez; Sue MacCallum and Brad White; Karen Taylor and Butch Underwood; Shannon Viera and RJ Sanchez.

The Dancing with the Brunswick Stars champion is determined by the number of votes he or she receives. To vote, go to the Dancing with the Brunswick Stars website at www.dwts.brunswick.cc.edu. Click on the name of the star for whom you wish to vote. The vote button is next to the star’s bio, and each vote is $10.

Tickets are also available for the event. They are $100 each and available on the website.
