Five arrested, accused of kidnapping, armed robbery

Five people arrested March 18 are accused of kidnapping and committing armed robberies in the Shallotte area.

Colin Chase Bennett, 24, of Supply, is charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury, common law robbery, robbery with a dangerous weapon, two counts of kidnapping, assault on a female, assault by strangulation, interference with emergency communication and possession of stolen property. He is incarcerated at the Brunswick County Detention Facility on $500,000 bail.

Jacqueline Nicole Brown, 26, of Shallotte is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury, kidnapping and robbery with a dangerous weapon. She is incarcerated at the Brunswick County Detention Facility on $350,000 bail.

Christopher Joseph Kelly, 22, of Shallotte is charged with two counts of kidnapping, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury, common law robbery, robbery with a dangerous weapon and failure to appear on a felony. He is incarcerated at the Brunswick County Detention Facility on $600,000 bail.

Kristin Dawn Lewis, 21, of Ocean Isle Beach is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury, carrying a concealed weapon, robbery with a dangerous weapon and kidnapping. She is incarcerated at the Brunswick County Detention Facility on $350,000 bail.

Jonathan Erick McLeod, 21, of Supply is charged with kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury and robbery with a dangerous weapon. He is incarcerated at the Brunswick County Detention Facility on $350,000 bail.

Warrants allege Kelly and Bennett kidnapped Christopher Ford on March 10 and David McKnight on March 15, stole money from and assaulted the two men in Shallotte while threatening each with handguns, according to the warrants. McKnight and Ford were seriously injured, according to authorities.

Brown and McLeod also are accused of kidnapping McKnight on March 15. Brown is accused of threatening him with a handgun while McLeod is accused of assaulting, kidnapping and robbing him, according to warrants.

Lewis is accused of assaulting, kidnapping and robbing McKnight with a handgun March 15 and of being in possession of brass knuckles March 17, warrants show.

The warrants also say Bennett choked Lewis and prevented her from calling 911 by taking her cell phone March 8.
