West Brunswick High School Athletics Director John Floyd has announced his retirement. Coach Floyd informed principal Brock Ahrens his last day will be
March 1.
When asked, “Why now?” this is what Floyd said:
“It’s just time. I have been coaching for 26 years. That’s a lot of late nights and long hours away from home. My family has sacrificed a lot for me over the years and now it’s time to give some back to them. My wife has retired and she and I are excited about starting this next stage in our life together. I am going to spend a lot of time with her and our children, do some fishing and maybe get a part-time job in a tackle shop somewhere.
“I also have a few health issues that need to be addressed. This will give me the opportunity to get my body fixed then start paying back the time I owe my loved ones. I have come to realize that life is short and I want to spend as much of it as I can with my family. I owe it to them.”
