Food for Thought: Lunch is now served at Crabby Oddwaters

New this season, Crabby Oddwaters at 310 Sunset Blvd. in Sunset Beach is now serving lunch specials from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily.

The menu includes a choice of sandwiches priced from $6 to $8 — Crabby fish of the day, shrimp, Sunset scallop, Oddwater soft-shell crab or Bill’s fresh-caught fish served blackened or grilled.

Sandwiches are served on a toasted bun with lettuce, tomato and onion and come with fries or homemade slaw.

Other offerings are shrimp and fish baskets served with hush puppies, fries and slaw for $8; Crabby land sandwiches, a burger or grilled chicken for $9.

Also check out Crabby specials of the day — appetizers consisting of a choice of shrimp won ton, conch fritters and sweet potato fries — as well as sandwich specials including a grilled blackened chicken American club, grilled or fried grouper or oyster po-boy served on hoagie bread with spicy tartar sauce.

There are also Crabby fish soups and salads, including the restaurant’s homemade clam chowder and she-crab soup, and a special Crabby kids lunch menu.

Dinner with daily seafood and landlubber specials is served from 5 to 10 p.m.

Apple Annie’s Bake Shop at 837 S. Kerr Ave. and 1121-I Military Cutoff Road in The Forum in Wilmington is doing its patriotic duty to help the Battleship North Carolina.

From July 3 through July 6, for every red, white and blue cupcake purchased, the shop will be donating $1 toward restoration of the Battleship.

After closing in early spring for a refresher renovation, The Purple Onion Café at 4647 Main St. in Shallotte is back on tap with a new website and menu additions, including cupcakes already being showcased in the cafe.
