Former senator Soles found not guilty in assault case

TABOR CITY—Former state Sen. R.C. Soles Jr. was found not guilty Friday in a September 2011 assault case, after his accuser testified to lying about some of his claims in an effort to get money from North Carolina’s longest-serving lawmaker.
