A pelican found injured with frostbite in Sunset Beach in January is released amid applause Saturday morning on the dock behind Sharky’s Restaurant in Ocean Isle Beach. The pelican, found at Bill’s Seafood Restaurant in Sunset Beach, was picked up by a rescue person and taken to Mary Ellen Rogers for treatment at Sea Biscuit Wildlife Shelter on Oak Island. Rogers returned the pelican to the wild with assistance from Paws-Ability, a local nonprofit that provides financial aid and other forms of assistance to assorted animal causes in Brunswick County.
