The Coast Garden Club awarded its Beautification Awards for 2011 in three categories: commercial, club member and residential.
The Commercial Award was given to Ocean Ridge Plantation. The entrance to Ocean Ridge Plantation on U.S. 17 is filled with brightly colored annuals and manicured shrubbery. It was designed and installed by Phoenix Landscape Management of Taylor, S.C., with input from Ocean Ridge Master Association representatives.
The Club Member Award was given to Joan Eccard of Shallotte, whose garden includes a water feature and several places to sit and enjoy the many flowering shrubs, annuals and perennials.
Frank and Vera Barbour of Ocean Isle Beach received the Residential Beautification Award. They have been gardening on the beach for more than four years. One area of their garden is surrounded by a low picket fence filled with daylilies, lilies and other flowering perennials.
