SUPPLY—A new Minuteman Food Mart, Dairy Queen and Domino’s combination is being planned at the intersection of U.S. 17 and Southport-Supply Road.
The new gas station-convenience store-restaurant combination is scheduled to be complete this fall.
According to Wesley Campbell, vice president of Campbell Oil-Minuteman, headquartered in Elizabethtown, construction on the project is scheduled to begin Monday, and the 4,000-plus-square-foot building should be complete by November.
“It’s a piece of property we’ve owned for about three or four years,” Campbell said. “We’ve always liked that intersection. We feel like it’s a good location for the store.”
He noted the location is perfect for catching beach traffic as well as traffic going to or from Wilmington on U.S. 17.
The company owns five other Minuteman locations in Brunswick County, Campbell said, and a total of 20 in North Carolina.
Asked why the company chose Domino’s and Dairy Queen for the Supply location, he said they were “good, brand-name products” that would draw customers.
In addition to travelers, people who live nearby may also be frequent customers once the new building is complete.
“Everybody in the subdivision is cheering,” said Brunswick County Economic Development Director Jim Bradshaw, who lives in RiverSea Plantation off Southport-Supply Road. “We can’t wait to get ice cream and fast food nearby.
“It’s a great opportunity for people who live in the developments along 211.”
