James Alfonzo Gause, 37, has pleaded guilty to assault with a deadly weapon to inflict serious injury, assistant district attorney Chris Gentry said.
Superior Court Judge Gary Locklear sentenced Gause to 32-48 months in the N.C. Department of Corrections, Gentry said.
Gause was also facing a habitual misdemeanor assault charge and a misdemeanor assault on a government official but pleaded guilty to the felony charge.
Gause still faces a felony possession of cocaine charge, as well as habitual felon.
