An old-timey flavor will predominate Tuesday at Universal Healthcare of Brunswick in Bolivia.

The healthcare facility at 1070 Old Ocean Highway is presenting “Let’s Go Back in Time” at the Oct. 16 event, with old-fashioned cars and tractors, corn-shucking and music by The Upstairs Gang.

The event will be from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

The day will mark the first time for the facility to have such an event. Activities are intended to provide residents an opportunity to enjoy events that will spark memories of their past. Organizers also hope the event will enable residents to show families things that existed when they were young, Gwen Grady, activities director at the facility.

“All of these things may not be exciting to us, but we are hoping that they will provide a few minutes of joy and fond memories for our residents,” she said.

Many of the “old-timey” items will be brought in from the Cape Fear Farm Tractor Club, which is based out of Lake Waccamaw. The club will bring 10 tractors that have been restored. The tractors are from the early 1930s to 1960.

There will also be old cars from two local car clubs, Tri-Beach Cruisers and the Car Club of Winding River. Staff and family members of patients at the facility will also be dressing up, which will take place on the grounds of the facility.

Old-time foods will be available to taste such as pig’s feet, chicken feet, collards, flapjacks and cornbread.

The public is invited and welcome. Wear your old-time attire if you wish.
