On Oct. 23, Don Nelson eagled the 375-yard on the sixth hole at Black Bear. He used a driver and a 7-iron.
On Oct. 28, Carolina Shores resident Bob Kronberg recorded an eagle 3 on the par-5, 484-yard 11th hole at Leopard’s Chase Golf Club at Ocean Ridge Plantation. Kronberg used a driver and a 3-wood and chipped in using a lob wedge. His playing partners were J.C. Peloquin and Bob Mabe.
Dick Pearce eagled the par-5 ninth hole Oct. 30 at Farmstead Golf Course. He used a driver and a 7-iron and sank the putt.
The Beachcombers played Oct. 31 at the Lakes. Low gross: 85, Jim Beairsto; 90, Paul Michal. Low nets: 69, Beairsto; 73, Bob Brownley; 75, Bill Cameron and Michal. Winning team (one low net on par 5s, two low nets on par 4s, three low nets on par 3s): 12 under, Beairsto, Brownley, Bob Smith and Hal Riebeshel. Jim Beairsto was golfer of the week.
BRICK LANDING LGA
Oct. 30 was Ace of the Month Day for the Brick Landing Ladies Golf Association league play. Jackie Seidler won Ace of the Month. All Ace of the Month winners will compete for the Ace of Aces title Nov. 13.
Birdies were made by Pat Christenbury on No. 2 and Dale Calhoon on No. 7. Calhoon had a chip-in on No. 13.
MEN’S SPORTS CLUB
The Men’s Club Shootout was Saturday. Ray Audette, Bill Shanley, Ken Horton and Joe Whalen were first (+9.5 points). Cal Calhoon, John McGuirt, Pete Fedeli and Owen Letter were second (+9.0 points). Jim Barrett, Dick Brown, Bob Melleky and Dick Giehl were third (+3.5 points).
Individually, Pete Fedeli was first at +10 points. Joe Whalen was second at +8.0 points. Alan Morissey was third at +6.5 points.
The Brierwood Men’s Golf Association played Oct. 27. First in the two-best-balls tourney were Ron Graziano, Tom Bowen, Marty Brkal and Joe Brust. Second at 17 under were Bob Snopek, Dave Harper, Walt Wilson and a blind draw. Third at 10 under were Paul Salerno, Odie Johnson, Chuck Hornfeck and Bob Janovic.
On Oct. 30 the format was two best balls. In first at 25 under were George Edwards, John Beavers, Joe Brust and Tom Kronyak. In second at 13 under were Harvey Hundley, Chuck Nash, Al Butler and Jack Harrison. In third at 10 under were Marty Brkal, Ron Graziano, Tom Bowen and a blind draw.
In a two best-balls tournament Saturday, the team of Bill Tonking, Dave Harper, Chuck Hornfeck and a blind draw finished first at 15-under par. Ron Graziano, Marty Brkal, George Edwards and Al Butler were second at 11-under par. In third at 7-under par were Jim Robinson, Paul Salerno and Tom Bowen.

BRIERWOOD MIXED SCRAMBLE
In the Brierwood Wednesday nine-hole mixed scramble Oct. 29, the team of Sharon Beavers, Carola Hornfeck and Walt Wilson took first place with an even-par score. At 3- over par, and in second place, was the team of Tracy West, Rita DuGan, Freddie West and John Beavers. The team of Barb Wilson, Fran Thomas and Chuck Hornfeck came in third, while the team of Marianne Nobes, Glen Green and Ralph Trimmer finished fourth.
In the Brierwood Women’s Golf Association tournament Oct. 28, the format was low gross, low net. In the first flight, Nancy Kumlin had a low gross of 89 and Pat Kronyak had a low net of 57. In flight two, JoAnne Davis had a low gross of 105 and Rita DuGan had a low net of 64. Chip-ins: DuGan on No. 2 and Kronyak on No. 5. Birdies: Kronyak on No. 5.

The Renegades played a format of throw out the worst hole on each nine using full handicap. The winners were Sharon Clark with a 49, followed by Laura Duncan with a 56 and Dolores Sanborn with a 59. Clark also won low gross, low net, with a 91 and a 63 and had the fewest putts (30). Other low-gross scores were Carol Groner (101) and Kathy Hahl (103). Other net scores were Laura Duncan (73) and Carol Groner (75) on a match of cards with Dolores Sanborn. Barbara Malina chipped in on No. 7, as did Laura Duncan on No. 16 and Pat Soule on No. 16.
