Michael Coleman made a hole-in-one Oct. 2 on the 164-yard ninth hole at Brierwood.
Coleman, 76, of Little River, S.C., used a 3-hybrid in making the ace, his first.
“After 46 years of playing,” he said, “I finally got a hole-in-one.”

Wally Milnichuk made his first hole-in-one Oct. 20 on the eighth hole of Leopard’s Chase, a 135-yard par-3, using an 8-iron.

George Cassidy made his first hole-in-one Oct. 20 on the 165-yard par-3 second hole of The Tradition Club, using a 6-iron.
The Beachcombers played a team Stableford match at Brierwood. Hal Riebeshel, Roger Dunham and Paul Michal at +8 finished first. Second were Jack Goin, Bob Byrne, Ed Hennessey and Jim Beairsto at +6. The Brick Landing Men’s Club shootout was Saturday. Jim Edes, Bob Brown, Bob Mularczyk and Dick Brown were first (+6.0 points). Bill Shanley, John McGuirt, Alan Morrissey and Mike Mattera were second (+2.5 points). Bob Koegel, Neil Nucci, Bob Melleky and Bob Grabb were third (+ 1.0 points).
Individually, Butch Cunningham was first with +7.0 points. Bob Brown was second with +6.5 points. John McGuirt was third with + 6.0 points.
The winning team of Marian Johnson, Fran Thomas and Dorsey Edmundson finished at 3-under par in the Brierwood nine-hole mixed scramble Oct. 21. In second was the team of Rita DuGan, Sharon Beavers, Ralph Trimmer and Odie Johnson at even par. Deloris Gausch, Glen Green, Bob Nobes and John Beavers finished third. Marianne Nobes, Richard Stegall and Gary McDaniels were fourth.
The format Oct. 22 was best ball on the par-5s, two best balls on the par-3s and par-4s. First at 19 under was the team of George Edwards, Dave Harper, Al Ostrager and Tom Bowen. In second at 16 under was the team of Al Bloom, Chuck Hornfeck, Odie Johnson and Paul Salerno. In third at 11 under was the team of Wayne McGlothlin, Gary McDaniel, Jim Pope and Jack Harrison.
In the captain’s choice game Saturday, two teams tied for first at 5 under: Bill Ton King, Dave Harper, Chuck Hornfeck and Dick Baynton tied with Jim Robinson, Reggie Fitz-Gerald, Bernie Gruzlewksi and Tom Bowen. In third at 3 under was the team of Tom Arney, George Edwards. Al Ostrager and Les Craft.
In the points game Monday, Al Bloom, Chuck Hornfeck and Tom Bowen were first with 62 points. George Edwards, Bernie Gruzlewski and Jack Harrison were second with 56 points. Paul Salerno, Dave Harper and Mike Prokop were third with 50 points.
The Brierwood Women’s Golf Association format Oct. 20 was low gross, low net. In the first flight, Nancy Kumlin finished first with a low gross of 93. Sara Lula won first low net with a 73 and Mickey Salerno had a 74. Betty Gabor had fewest putts (31). JoAnne Davis and Janice Owens tied at 110 in the second-flight low gross. Marianne Nobes was first low net at 75. Sara Baynton had fewest putts (29). Chip-ins: Mickey Salerno on No. 9 and Sara Baynton on No. 8.

On Friday at Meadowlands, John Ducey, Joe Meo, Jerry Rubin, Jim Kennedy and John Methvin placed first with a 217. The five-man teams scored three nets per hole. Ron Doeblin, Ned Meier, Steve Maiorca, Cliff Musselman and Joe Gallo were second.

The Grand Strand Seniors Men’s Golf Association played its weekly event Oct. 19 at Carolina Shores Golf and Country Club in Carolina Shores. The format is stroke play with handicap.
