On Feb. 1 at Farmstead, Jim Kennedy, Vonh Hincher, John Methvin and Joe Gallo placed first with a 150. Teams scored two nets per hole. In second were Frank Janton, Jerry Rubin, Hugh Chinn and Cliff Musselman.

On Feb. 3, at Meadowlands, Frank Janton, Pete Scott, John Ducey and Joe Gallo placed first with a 157. Teams scored three nets on par-5s, two nets on par-4s and one net on par-3s. In second were Sid Pennington, Steve Maiorca, John Ogden and Vonh Hincher.

On Friday at Meadowlands, Ron Doeblin, Vonh Hincher and John Ducey placed first with a 95. Teams scored one net on the par-3s and par-4s and a net and gross on the par-5s. Ned Meier, Sid Pennington and Joe Gallo were second.


Brierwood MGA played two best balls for its game of the day Feb. 4. The winning team at -15 was Harvey Hundley, Bob Janovic and Jack Harrison. Finishing second at +2 were Paul Salerno, Dave Harper and Jim Pope. In third at +4 were Jim Robinson, Bernie Gruzlewski and Bob McDaniel.


The Calabash Tee-Birds played their weekly Stableford match Feb. 3 at the Thistle Golf Club. First: Jerry Zimmerman, Bobby Poulton, Ken Anthony and Lee Harrison at +0.5. Second: Billy McCormick, Larry Clark and Jack Liberstein at -2. Third: Art Dobbs, Pat Perryman, Mike Connolly and Ray Ketcham at -4.5. Finishing fourth at -5 were Frank Morrone, Rich Murray, Jack Goin and Durwood Jackson. Low rounds of the day were Lee Harrison, 80; Larry Clark, 82; and Ken Anthony, 85. Lee Harrison had two skins. Ken Anthony, Larry Clark, Dave Enfeld and Bobby Poulton had one skin each.


In the Carolina Shores Niners low-gross and low-net tournament Jan. 28, Phyllis Gumbrell was first in both classes in flight A and Nancy Harthausen was second. In flight B, Rose Mary Jones was first in each class and Halla Cramer second.

Nancy Harthausen had a birdie on No. 1.

In the tourney Feb. 4, Betty Kibblehouse was first in flight A low gross and Phyllis Gumbrell second. Joanne Riedel won low net and Phyllis Gumbrell was second.

In Flight B, Rose Mary Jones was first in both classes and Halla Cramer second.

Phyllis Gumbrell chipped in on No. 8.

The Grand Strand Seniors Men’s Golf Association played its weekly event Feb. 1 at Myrtlewood Golf Cub, the Palmetto Course in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The format is stroke play with handicap. Each flight is awarded a low-gross and low-net winner. This week it had 87 golfers, so there were six flights, A through F. All par -3s have closest-to-the-pin awards for white and gold tees. The following are the winners for this week: A flight: Monte Beebe (75 gross), Bill Roberts (64 net). B flight: Mitch Jordan (81 gross), Wes Filipow (66 net). C flight: Bob Butkevicius (89 gross), Thomas (68 net). D flight: Jim Lynch (88 gross), Gordon Reblin (65 net). E flight: Mike Malik (89 gross), Jerry Wiles (65 net). In second were Carol Groner, Karen Hertling, Martha Hannon and a draw (150). In third were Jean Falls, Kathy Hahl, Laura Duncan and a guest (156).

Low-gross winner for the second straight week was Carolyn Bosman (94), followed by Jean Falls (103) and Sharon Clark (108). Low nets: Carolyn Bosman (63), Kathy Hahl (76) and Martha Hannon (77). Carolyn Bosman had fewest putts (28) and Sharon Clark had a chip-in on No. 17.
