The Beachcombers played a four-man team, two low nets tournament Friday at Crown Park. Winners with a score of 117 (-27) were Freddy Ortiz, Bill Cameron, Reggie Auten and Hal Riebesehl. Second went to Bob Byrne, Bob Smith, Ed Kinney and Jim Beairsto with a123 (-21). Low gross: Charlie Shore, 83; Stu Cleveland, 84; and Jim Beairsto and Randy Cogdill, 89. Low nets were Reggie Auten and Charlie Shore, 66. Reggie Auten was voted golfer of the week.

TOMBSTONE TOURNEY
In celebration of Halloween, Brick Landing Ladies played a tombstone tournament Oct. 29. Each player planted her tombstone at the place on the course where her ball landed after hitting the number of strokes equal to par plus her handicap.
Dale Calhoon won the first flight, having planted her tombstone on the green of the second hole after playing a full round plus nearly two holes. Jackie Seidler was second and Cathy Shanley was third. Peg Agrimonti won the second flight, planting her flag 75 yards from the hole on No. 18. Mary Dixon was second in this flight. Ursula Styczynski won the third flight. Peg Campana was second and Mary Tacea third. Dale Calhoon birdied No. 7, Jean Hasty chipped in on No. 1, and Mary Tacea chipped in on No. 7.

The men’s club weekly tournament was Oct. 27. The format was two best net on all holes.
First: Joe Whalen, Charles Nartnett and Ralph McClean at -29. The Brick Landing Men’s Club shootout was Saturday. Gene Bonstein, John McGuirt, Owen Letter and Dave Igelman were first (+10.5 points). Jim Barrett, Charles Hartnett, Larry Agrimonti and Tom Bianco were second (+6.5 points). Ray Audette, Bobby Jones, Dwight Christenbury and Alan Morrissey were third (+ 4.0 points). Individually, Jim Campana was first with +7.5 points. Alan Morrissey was second with +5.5 points.

The game Oct. 29 was three best balls on the front nine and two on the back nine. First at 10 under were Al Bloom, Dave Harper, Morris Hall and Jack Harrison. The game Monday was two best balls. In first at 29 under were George Edwards, Al Ostrager, Jim Pope and Jack Harrison. In second at 17 under were Dave Harper, Morris Hall, Tom Bowen and a draw. In third at 14 under were Al Bloom, Gary McDaniel, Bob Janovic and a draw.

The winning team of Carola Hornfeck, Marianne Nobes, Richard Stegall and Wayne McGlothlin finished at 1 under in the Brierwood nine-hole mixed scramble Oct. 28. Tied for second at even par was the team of Sharon Beavers, Nancy McGlothlin, Jake Lockman and Larry Boyer, and the team of Rita DuGan, Ginny Stegall and Bob Nobes. Glen Green, Ralph Trimmer, Chuck Hornfeck and John Beavers finished next at 1-over par.
BRIERWOOD WGA
In the Brierwood Women’s Golf Association play Oct. 27, the format was low gross, low net. In the first flight, Nancy Kumlin took first with a gross score of 85. She also had fewest putts (32). Sherry Pittman won first low net with 78. The second-flight low-gross winner was Sue Janovic (98). Marianne Nobes won first low net at 72 and had fewest putts (30). Chip-ins: Sherry Pittman on No. 18 and Marianne Nobes on No. 14.
In other BWGA play, a new match-play tournament for all Brierwood women this year, the Queen of the Links tournament, was won by Mimi Ostrager on the 18th hole during the final match. She was tied with Carol Fitz-Gerald through 17 holes.

On Oct. 28 Meadowlands, members used a Stableford format. Jim Kennedy was first at +9 and John Methvin second at +6. Sid Pennington, George O’Connell and Jerry Rubin tied for third. John Ogden and Joe Gallo tied for sixth.
On Friday at Meadowlands, Ned Meier, Cliff Musselman, Jim Kennedy and a draw were first on a match of cards with a 167. Teams scored two nets on the par-3 and par-4 holes and two nets and one gross on the par-5 holes. John Ducey, Joe Meo, Steve Maiorca and Ron Doeblin were second.

Sid Pennington eagled the 439-yard par-5 14th hole Friday at Meadowlands. He used a driver and a 5-hybrid to reach the green and sank the putt.

The A flight was won by Dave Cummings with 49 points. Allen Ayling won the front nine with 26 points and Charlie Roland won the back nine with 23 points. The B flight was won by Tim Taraska with 46 points. Ed Klosowski won the front nine with 23 points and Chuck Gregory won the back nine with 26 points. The C flight was won by David Mills with 42 points. Ray Basillio won the front nine with 23 points and Paul Thompson won the back nine with 22 points.

Forty members of the Rebels traveled Friday to Oyster Bay to play an individual low net game. First: Place Bobby Bryce with a 66. Second was a tie between Frank Anderson and Barney Evangelista, with 67s. Frank McCarron scored a 69 for third. Fourth was a four-way tie at 70: Gene McDonald, Bob Morley, Jim Creighton and Bill Snyder. Next was a five-way tie at 71: Jim Emerson, Guy Tavel, Don Moore, Bill Pohlman and Mike Donovan.
RENEGADES
The team game was two low nets of a foursome plus total team putts. Playing at home course Carolina Shores, the winning team was Carolyn Bosman, Sharon Clark, Mary Fran Ryon and a draw. Second went to Kay Craig, Donna Watkins, Gloria Crane and Dee Gillin.
Shooting individual low grosses were: Donna Watkins (95), Carol Groner (101), Karen Hertling (103). Donna Watkins took low net honors with 68 followed by Carolyn Bosman (71) and Betty Weaver (72). Donna Watkins had the fewest putts (30) and also won the best-decorated pumpkin prize.

The overnight storm soaked the golf courses and limited the play for Oct. 28. The game was changed to individual Chicago. Sand to Piper: first, Bill Spellicy with a +3.
