In the past two weeks there have been several larcenies of golf cart batteries on Ocean Isle Beach.
On Sunday, Feb. 10, someone removed batteries from a golf cart on East Second Street. On Friday, Feb. 1, there were two reports of larceny of golf cart batteries on Wilmington Street.
During the board of commissioners’ meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 12, police chief John Goodwin said the batteries are being taken to salvage yards and sold for cash. He said boat batteries are popular, too.
