Brunswick Closer to Home tourney Sept. 26
On Sept. 26, the Brunswick Plantation Ladies Golf Association is hosting a golf tournament to benefit Lower Cape Fear Hospice, in particular, the new SECU Hospice House of Brunswick in Supply.
The day will begin with breakfast and registration at 7:30 a.m. followed by a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Format is captain’s choice.
The entry fee of $70 includes golf, carts, breakfast, hot dogs at the turn, lunch, goody bags, door prizes and tournament prizes. Closest to the pin, line and putting contests will also be held. There will be raffle baskets, 50/50, and mulligan tickets sold.

Sept. 19. You may register as a foursome of men, women or mixed. A threesome, twosome or single may also register. Players not on complete teams will be paired before the tournament.

CIAO tourney Sept. 15
The 14th annual Carolina Italian American Organization’s Golf Tournament begins at 9 a.m. Sept. 15 at the Eagle Nest Golf Club. Funds will benefit local military veterans. Last year $5,500 were donated to veterans. The entry fee of $65 per player covers continental breakfast, food at the turn and beverages. Lunch is provided by Kenny’s Little River Deli.
Magnolia Greens to host speed golf tourney Sept. 16
Magnolia Greens Golf Course will host the areas first speed golf tournament, Kicks and Sticks, on
Sept. 16. Speed golf is a combination of running and golf. Speed golfers run between golf shots on a standard 18-hole course, the goal being to shoot the lowest score in the shortest amount of time.  All proceeds will benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of North Carolina. American Legion tourney Sept. 22
American Legion Post 186 in Little River is hosting a family and friends par-3 golf tournament on Sept. 22. If you can play putt-putt you are invited to this getting to know local veterans and families golf outing. This is a four-club captain’s choice format with refreshments on the course and hamburgers, hot dogs and refreshments at the Post afterward.
The golf tournament will be at Harbour View Golf in Little River and have a shotgun start at 3 p.m. The cost is $30. These teams can be made up of women, men and children. It’s for the whole family.

Brunswick Novant Medical Center golf tourney
The Brunswick Novant Medical Center Foundation will host its first golf tournament Oct. 12 at Lockwood Folly Country Club. All proceeds from the golf tournament will support the BNMC Foundation’s Women and Children’s Wellness Outreach Initiative.
The 18-hole golf classic will begin with registration and breakfast from 7-8:30 a.m. Following breakfast, an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start is planned for the captain’s choice tournament.
The tournament will also include men and women’s categories for closest to the pin, closest to the center line, longest drive, hole-in-one contests and a putting competition. Mulligans will be available to golfers.
A lunch reception will follow the tournament, including prizes and a raffle. Prizes will be awarded to first, second and third-place teams.
Registration for individual players is $125 and $500 for teams. Sponsorships for the golf tournament are available.
