Calabash VFW tourney Nov. 12
Calabash VFW Post 7288 will host its annual golf tournament Nov. 19 at Sea Trail Golf Links Byrd Course. The event is open to men and women with flight awards, golf course awards and door prizes. There’s a 7:30 a.m. show time and an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. After the golfing, the participants return to the Calabash VFW for lunch and refreshments. The cost is $140 per two-person team and proceeds from the event will benefit the Wounded Warriors, a program committed to helping U.S. troops adjust to life after suffering the wounds of war. Entry forms are available at the Post at 900 Carter Drive and they must be submitted with payment by the Nov. 12 entry deadline. For more information, call the Calabash VFW at 579-3577.
Tee off for veterans Nov. 24
On Nov. 24, Rolling Thunder SC3 will play its annual golf tournament at Crown Park Golf Course. It will be a captain’s choice with a shotgun start at
10 a.m. The fee is $60 per person, $240 per team. There will be a 50-50 drawing, door prizes and dinner to follow immediately after the tournament at the VFW Post 10804, 111 Highway 57, Little River, S.C. For more information, contact Bruce Hutchison at (843) 390-0196 or hutchb@sccoast.net.
Coast Guard tourney Dec. 7
The second annual DILI golf tournament begins at 10 a.m. Dec. 7 at Echo Farms Golf and County Club. The Wilmington Navy League is the host and the tourney benefits the Fallen Heroes scholarship fund and a Coast Guard scholarship fund at Cape Fear Community College. Entry fee is $75 per golfer, $300 per four-golfer team, and includes dinner.
