To the editor:
What a fantastic day for a local charity event in Brunswick County. Paws-Ability’s second annual Bicycle Poker Run was Sunday afternoon [Oct. 7] at the Ocean Isle Inn on Ocean Isle Beach.
Sponsors and volunteers hosted a sold-out, family-friendly event that will provide funds for local rescue groups, shelters and animal-related programs that affect Brunswick County.
When government and private sector work together, positive change is possible, with no additional cost to the taxpayer.
This will be the year of positive change for Brunswick County, where issues affecting animals are concerned. Funds from this event mean more support for our spay/neuter programs, veterinary care and life for animals in our shelters that deserve a chance, financial help for rescue groups and shelters so they are able to assist more animals from our county shelter to reduce the euthanasia rate, and continuation of the domestic violence pet protection program with Hope Harbor.
We will continue to work to improve life for animals in Brunswick County, and with your help, “We can do this!”
If you missed Bicycle Poker Run, keep us in mind for next year. Thank you to our event host, Ocean Isle Inn, our business and political sponsors, event participants and to our volunteers.
Together, we can make our community a better place.
