Mount Olive College sophomore Dalton Gore, a South Brunswick High School graduate, and his golf teammates started their spring season last week in the rain-shortened Armstrong Pirate Men’s Golf Invitational at Savannah Quarters Country Club in Pooler, Ga.
Originally scheduled for 54 holes, the 36-hole tournament was their first competition since Nov. 1. Gore was Mount Olive’s top individual finisher, tying for 18th out of 75 golfers with matching 75s for a 150.
Fellow sophomore Carly White, a West Brunswick High School graduate, held nationally ranked St. Leo without a run for 2.2 innings as the Trojans mounted a comeback during an eventual 5-4 loss in the team’s Florida road trip last week. For the season, White is 2-1 with a 2.03 ERA. Mount Olive is 11-9 overall.
