SUNSET BEACH—Alabama Theatre entertainer Greg Rowles is coming to Sunset Beach on Sept. 8 to present a concert of Christian music.

The church’s annual Country Fair event, this year featuring “Greg Rowles & Friends in Concert,” is at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary of Seaside United Methodist Church, 1300 Seaside Road SW. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 10 and younger.

Rowles’ concert will consist of songs and stories that tell his personal testimony based on faith. He will be accompanied by fellow Alabama Theatre cast members Robert Napier on violin and Jeff Zona on guitar.

Born in Fredericksburg, Va., Rowles has been musically active since age 12 when he started playing in a family band with his mom, dad and brother. An accomplished musician on various instruments, Rowles cites Ernest Tubb, Bill Monroe, Faron Young, Porter Wagoner and Conway Twitty as his musical heroes.

His road to fame launched when fans cast their first votes—18 million to be precise—to name him male vocalist of the year on “Star Search.”

Rowles has been with the Alabama Theatre in North Myrtle Beach, S.C., for the past 12 seasons. He also hosts nightly “Not the News,” “Racin’ News” and “Football News” broadcasts on WFXB FOX 43 in Myrtle Beach. He was recently featured on the Food Network’s “Paula’s Party” with Paula Deen.

Rowles entertained at the Vatican in Rome for three years at the request of James Nicholson, U.S. ambassador to the Holy See. He also performed numerous times as a solo artist at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.

Rowles has been in the Christian ministry for years and now serves as music pastor of Waterbrook Community Church in Longs, S.C. His newly remastered Christian CD is “Faith Is All You Need.”

Rowles is most proud of his bride of 18 years, Brandee, and their three children—Courtney, Grayson and Ashton.

Tickets for Rowles’ Sept. 8 performance can be purchased online at www.SeasideUnitedMethodistChurch.org or by calling the church at 579-5753.
