Start out right by setting up the best possible growing conditions for your plants. For most vegetables, that means full sun (at least 6 hours of direct sun a day). If you have poor soil, amend it with lots of organic matter such as compost. If you are using any type of manure, make certain that it has aged a minimum of one year. Bagged compost works very well.
