After going dark for the past month, Ingram Planetarium is set to light up the night sky this coming weekend when it partakes in grand opening events to mark the installation of its new high-definition digital projection system.
Celebrating its seventh birthday this year, the fun, educational learning center is improving its offerings for locals and tourists alike by making such improvements to its facility. In addition to being only the third operation with a digital SciDome projection system in the world, the planetarium has also upgraded its science hall and added a laser light projector and surround sound system to its offering.
Efforts like this keep the planetarium as one of the community’s jewels. In addition to being a tourist draw and a site that can bring in school groups to learn more about astronomy and more, the planetarium is a must-see for area residents.
And these improvements have not come about without a lot of hard work from volunteers and a committed group of advocates who believe in what the planetarium has to offer.
Thanks to those who have worked hard behind the scenes to promote the planetarium’s mission, to keep it up-to-date and to raise much needed funds for its operation.
Stop by this weekend to see what all the fuss is all about; you may just leave with your head in the clouds.
