Jackson leads Bucs

Shatara Jackson scored 26 points as Laney defeated West Brunswick 47-37 in a high school girls’ basketball game last Tuesday in Shallotte.

Jackson, a senior guard, scored at least six points in each quarter and had eight steals as the Lady Buccaneers improved to 3-0 in the Mideastern 3A/4A Conference and 10-3 overall.

West Brunswick coach Cherry Woodbury said Jackson’s ability to steal the ball and convert at the other end was the difference in the game.
