Staff Report

Amuzu Theater in Southport will present “The Ultimate Tribute to Johnny Cash,” featuring the The Johnny Folsom Four from Raleigh, for one show only at 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4.
Johnny Cash fans of all ages can enjoy hit songs like “I Walk the Line,” “Folsom Prison Blues,” “Ring of Fire,” “A Boy Named Sue” and many other favorites as the group honors the “Man in Black” through a portrayal of this American legend.
Lead singer David Burney, originally from Leland, performs a lilting Southern baritone of many favorite Johnny Cash songs. Event organizers say he is so accurate that, if you close your eyes for a moment, you might wonder if Johnny Cash himself is in the theater.
David Gresham fills the shoes of Carl and Luther Perkins on their famous guitar licks. Bass player Tom Mills and drummer Randy Benefield provide familiar driving train rhythm loved by Johnny Cash fans. Miss Eleanor Jones is scheduled to join the group for classic duets of Johnny and June.

Tickets for this one-time show are on sale for $18 each, cash or check only, at Ricky Evans Art Gallery at 211 North Howe St. in Southport.
