Executive Director of TFTBC
Volunteers are the backbone of most Brunswick County charities and nonprofits. The First Tee of Brunswick County (TFTBC) is no different. More than 250 of them help us deliver programs to more than 7,000 Brunswick County youngsters. But as our programs expand, we need more help.
We need more volunteers to assist us in our work to impact the lives of young people in Brunswick County by providing educational opportunities that build character and citizenship, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.
TFTBC volunteers are needed this fall in a variety of areas. In coaching, opportunities are available weekly in our After School Program (11 two-hour sessions, one afternoon per week, or on Saturday mornings), as well as in the School Day Program (10 mornings, one per week, in the fall, and eight in the spring). We also need occasional volunteers for special half-day and other one-time events.
So if you’d like to coach—and we need men and women—please contact Terry Mauney (pronounced Mooney) at 754-5288. You don’t need to be a scratch golfer or a low- handicapper to coach. All you need is an enthusiasm for the game, helping kids and bringing golf to the next generation.
If you’d like to come by and observe one of our sessions for an hour or so to see what The First Tee is all about, we’d love to have you. Our campus—the Golf Park at Cinghiale Creek—is 2 miles north east of Shallotte. So please call Terry and he can make the arrangements for you. That way, you can see whether coaching is something you’d like to do.
On the administrative side, volunteers are always welcome to help on a variety of office-related support tasks: answering phones, responding to e-mails and handling basic inquiries, public relations and writing, technical support and data processing, fundraising, collating training manuals and other materials, mailings, etc. If you can lend a hand in anyway, even for an hour or two each week, contact me at 754-5288.
At TFTBC, it’s all about the kids, and working with them is immensely rewarding. Please join us and become part of TFTBC volunteer team.
