K-9 Enforcement Team roundup

The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office recently launched its newest law enforcement initiative, the K-9 enforcement team.

The team, comprised of five K-9 officers and their dogs, is similar to the sheriff’s office community policing program, which targets areas with high crime and drug activity, but the K-9 enforcement team is its own patrol division.

The K-9 enforcement team answers calls, conducts driver’s license checkpoints and assists with other agencies when K-9s are needed.

Officers with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Enforcement Team answered 37 calls last week, issued 16 uniformed citations and 21 total charges.

Beginning Aug. 4, officers focused on the following areas: Pinecrest, McMilly Road, Longwood, New Brittan Loop, Blue Banks Loop, U.S. 74-76, Cedar Hill Road, Wolfridge, Stevenson Road, Turkey Trap Road, Shell Point Road, Long Beach Road, Cedar Hill Road, Seashore Road, Boones Neck Road, Snowfield Road, Dogwood Road, Dutchman Acres, Beach Drive, Green Loop Road and Lanvale Road.

K-9 officers also set up 12 driver’s license checkpoints.

•Ralph Roger Lauter, 52, of 5150 Malmo Loop Road NE, Leland; cited for expired inspection.

•James Robert Rohaley, 49, of 6576 Beach Drive SW, Ocean Isle Beach; cited for possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

•Tasha Autumn Wolf, 37, of 506 26th Ave., North Myrtle Beach, S.C.; cited for driving while license revoked.

•Justin Griffin, 25, of 7319 Morlon, Longwood; cited for expired inspection.

•Gabriel Garcia Serrano, 22, of 1901 Highway 57 N., Little River, S.C.; cited for no driver’s license.

•Jeremy Blaine Buckhanan, 21, of 2905 Cox’s Landing Road SE, Bolivia; cited for possession of ounce or less of marijuana.

•David Jess Vinzant, 32, of 1800 Eastwood Road, Apt. 125, Wilmington; cited for expired inspection.

•Jefferey A. Martin, 25, of 512 W St. George St., Southport; cited for possession of ounce or less of marijuana and expired inspection.

•Leonel Estrada, 18, of Lot 23 Green Loop Road, Leland; cited for no driver’s license.

•Nelson Gormano Tavares, 38, of 4818 N.C. 102 E., Ayden; cited for driving while license revoked.

•Brandon Lovell Webster, 18, of 586 Arbor Drive, Bolivia; charged with flee/elude arrest and possession of stolen goods or property.

•Charles F. Caspari, 47, of 716 Chapel Ridge Road, Lutherville Md.; cited for no driver’s license.

•Alexander Marshall Moosman, 18, of 319 Hidden Valley Road, Wilmington; cited for possession of ounce or less of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

•Adrian Terrell Grady, 23, of 81 Sloon Road NE, Leland; cited for expired inspection.

•Clinton Bige Bowling, 31, of 1291 Vera Lane SE, Bolivia; charged with intoxicated and disruptive.
