The K-9 enforcement team answers calls, conducts driver’s license checkpoints and assists with other agencies when K-9s are needed.

Officers with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Enforcement Team answered 22 calls Dec. 8-14, issued 12 uniformed citations and 20 total charges.

K-9 officers set up driver’s license checkpoints in the following areas: Old Fayetteville Road, Lincoln Road, Green Swamp Road, N.C. 179, U.S. 17 and Midway Road.

K-9 officers issued several drug charges, including: possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, three charges of possession of marijuana, three possession of drug paraphernalia charges, a possession of a schedule IV controlled substance charge and three possession of schedule III controlled substance charges.

Other arrests made by K-9 officers include: two failure to appear warrants, three driving while license revoked citations, two inspection violations, one child support warrant, one arrest for outstanding warrants, one open container citation and one expired registration.
