Kiwanis Club plans open house

The South Brunswick County Kiwanis Club will have an open house from 8:45-10 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, at the Days Inn (formerly Holiday Inn Express) in Shallotte on U.S. 17.

The open house will consist of a “meet and greet” with juice and coffee followed by an introduction to the community service organization, Kiwanis. Its objectives, purpose, organization and projects will be discussed.

The South Brunswick County Kiwanis Club provides an opportunity to join with other community minded individuals in making a direct impact for the betterment of the community through volunteering. 

The primary focus of Kiwanis is in serving the youth, such as the sponsorship of the West Brunswick High School Key Club, a leadership training organization. As in past years, the Kiwanis Club has awarded a $1,000 college scholarship to a graduating senior of that high school with the presentation being made at a school-wide assembly on May 25.

Club support includes: The First Tee, CIS, Brunswick Family Assistance and the Literary Society, together with the Boy’s and Girl’s Home and Kiwanis Cottage at Lake Waccamaw.

The club meets the first and third Tuesdays of each month at the Days Inn in Shallotte. All are invited to any upcoming meeting. If attending, notify Charlie Bowie at 754-7489.
