The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. at Highest Praise Worship Center, 19 Red Bug Road in Shallotte. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $35 for VIP Artists Circle, $20 general admission and $15 for groups of 15 or more.

VIP ticket-holders must arrive at 5:45 p.m. for a meet-and-greet and question-and-answer with band members in Kutless and Fireflight, another Christian group performing at the church Friday.

Other groups performing at the concert are Rhett Walker Band, Simply JK and Hyland.

The concert is one of the stops on Kutless’ The Believer Tour, drawing from the group’s latest album, “Believer.”

Kutless, with front man/leader singer Jon Micah Sumrall, formed in 1999 and has released seven studio albums. The group has sold more than 2 million records.

Kutless has been lauded in the Christian-music realm for its edgy act and first No. 1 contemporary single, “What Faith Can Do.”

Kutless draws its name from Scripture, according to the group’s website: “Christ took our beating and paid the wages of our sin. (Romans 6:23); He took our cuts for us, leaving us ‘Kutless.’”

Kutless members say they have watched gospel-based acts like Israel Houghton and aspired to bring similar passion and dedicated musicianship to their own rock concerts. They’ve spoken with tour mates Casting Crowns, adopting its practice of walking through empty performance halls ahead of show time, touching the seats and praying for those who will be in attendance.

Fireflight is another Christian rock band, also formed in 1999 and based out of Florida.

Rhett Walker is renowned for his first radio single, “When Mercy Found Me,” released this year.

Simply JK consists of two local performers, Jodi Perkins of Holden Beach and Kristi McLeod of Ocean Isle Beach.

The two met “head on” in 2005 and were asked to lead the first Praise and Worship team at their church, which they graciously accepted.

They recorded their cover album, “You've Got A Friend” in 2006, followed by “Jesus Lives Here” in 2009. This past May, Simply JK released a third album, “Thank God I’m A Country Girl.”

Hyland is a Christian band hailing from Minneapolis, Minn. Some of its singles include “This Love Is Free,” “Desperate Man” and “Til Death.”
