Lady Dolphins rally, defeat Tidewater

 BOLIVIA — The Brunswick Community College women’s basketball team outscored Tidewater Community College 14-2 late in the fourth quarter en route to a 70-60 victory Sunday, Dec. 8, at the Dinah E. Gore Fitness & Aquatics Center gym.


Crystal Hicks hit five 3-pointers and scored 19 points. Tyesha McLean scored 13 of her 16 points in the second half. Katrina Brown scored nine points as the Dolphins improved to 5-3. TCC fell to 1-9.

TCC led 55-52 with 6 minutes, 15 seconds left when BCC began its rally. A floater by McLean gave BCC a 60-57 lead. A deflection by Brown led to a layup by McLean for a 62-57 lead. A rebound by Hicks led to another basket by McLean and a 64-57 lead.

Two free throws by Kenedra Smith extended the lead to 66-57 with 2:20 left.

TCC cut the lead to 66-60 but Hicks clinched the victory by sinking a 3-pointer from the right wing.
