It was a nearly flawless performance for the West Brunswick Lady Trojans in the first round of the Class 3A state softball playoffs May 13.
Heather Carter threw a one-hitter and Carly White hit a three-run home run as the Trojans routed the Havelock Rams 8-0.
“Can’t say enough about how they performed,” West Brunswick coach Joe Noble said.
Carter gave up one hit, and that was an infield hit on a close play at first base in the sixth inning. She walked the first batter she faced and only one more the rest of the game. She struck out six.
