-A A +A
By Laura Lewis, Reporter

Light up your yuletide this season with the Holiday Laser Music Show at Ingram Planetarium in Sunset Beach.

Show time is 4 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at the planetarium at 7625 High Market Street.

The show features colorful laser images displayed on the domed ceiling of the planetarium’s SciDome Sky Theater, to the accompaniment of classic holiday music like “Sleigh Ride,” “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy,” “Winter Wonderland” and “Jingle Bell Rock.”

The Holiday Laser Music Show runs through the end of the year and is appropriate for all ages. The planetarium will be open Dec. 26, 27 and 28 and closed Dec. 30 and 31.

Another upcoming highlight at the planetarium is the End of World Party at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21. Watch “Tales of the Maya Skies,” followed by a special star show featuring Mayan constellations. Learn about Mayan culture and celebrate the end of the Mayan Long Calendar and the beginning of the new calendar. Make Mayan-inspired crafts and try your hand at a Mayan trivia contest.

Admission to laser music shows is free for planetarium members.

Other fall sky theater shows include “Dynamic Earth” at 1 and 3 p.m. and, on Dec. 14 and 15, “Laser Led Zeppelin” at 5 p.m. and “Laser Beatles” at 6 p.m.

Non-member per-show admission is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and students, $4 for ages 3-4, and free for ages 2 and younger. Stay for two shows, and you’ll receive $1 off the second ticket.
