Leland Crime report

Leland police officers investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week. All information is taken directly from patrol activity reports.

•Larceny on Reed Road; suspect stole $50 worth of meat from Food Lion.

•Timothy Barton Smith, 44, of 301 Savanna Branch Road, Leland; charged with driving while impaired.

•Larceny of mail on Stone Bridge Lane; suspect stole various pieces of mail from victim’s mailbox.

•Larceny of gas on New Pointe Boulevard; suspect driving a green Dodge Stratus with N.C. registration number XSF-8458 drove off without paying for $48 worth of gas.

•Fugitive from justice on New Pointe Boulevard; John Westley Trammell, 24, of 215 Brighton Road, Wilmington, was taken to the Brunswick County Detention Center after a driver’s license check revealed a forced burglary charge in Georgia. Trammell is in custody at the Brunswick County Detention Center on a $30,000 bond awaiting extradition to Georgia.

•Breaking and entering on Old Fayetteville Road; a trailer was broken into at Leland Middle School.

•Attempted breaking and entering to an auto on Timber Lane.

•After a driver’s license check on U.S. 74-76, Charlie Phillip Fowler Jr., 34, of 225 Delco Prosper Road, Delco, was charged with driving while license revoked.

•Larceny of fuel on New Pointe Boulevard; suspect drove off after pumping gas and did not pay for it.

•Assault on Townsend Lane; Davon Marquis Robinson, 18, of 9230 Center Court, Leland; and Porche Robinson, 17, of 110 Townsend Lane, Leland; were arrested for assaulting each other. Both suspects were taken to the Brunswick County Detention Center and placed on a $500 bond.

•Pursuant to a domestic violence investigation on New Pointe Boulevard, Joshua Morgan Starkey, 26, of 106 Hill Lane, Lot No. 12, Leland, was arrested on two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, possession of stolen property and a warrant out of Wilmington. Starkey was taken to the detention center and placed on no bond.

•After almost being hit head-on, officer Richard Christopher attempted to stop a suspect’s vehicle. The vehicle fled but crashed a short time later. Tamela Sue Dail, 32, of 1128 Village Road, Lot No. 12, Leland, fled on foot, but was located by a Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Enforcement Officer at her residence. Dail was arrested and taken to the Brunswick County Detention Center and placed on a $10,000 secured bond.

•Pursuant to a traffic stop on U.S. 74-76, Kenneth Bernard Martin, 32, of 3407 Broad St., Wilmington, was charged with driving while impaired and driving while license revoked. Martin was arrested and taken to the Brunswick County Detention Center and placed on a $1,000 secured bond.

•Larceny of fuel on New Pointe Boulevard; suspect drove off without paying for gas.

•Pursuant to an investigation of a domestic dispute, Alfonza Leroy Jenkins, 22, of 7221 Haven Way, Wilmington, was charged with assault on a female and assault with a deadly weapon. Jenkins was arrested and taken to the detention center and placed on no bond.

•Larceny of fuel on New Pointe Boulevard; suspect drove off without paying for gas.

•Pursuant to a domestic violence investigation, John Joseph Child III, 36, of 1644 Lanvale Road, Leland, was charged with communicating threats and resist, obstruct and delay. Child was arrested and taken to the detention center, where he was placed on no bond.

•Pursuant to a traffic stop for speeding, David Nelson Everett, 46, of 100 Pinecrest Parkway, Wilmington, was charged with driving while impaired, speeding and careless and reckless on U.S. 74-76. Everett was arrested and taken to the detention center, where he was placed under a custody release bond.

•Larceny on Town Hall Drive; suspect took $600 worth of aluminum planning signs from the Town of Leland.

•Larceny of gas on New Pointe Boulevard; suspect in a silver car with N.C. Registration VVJ-4253 drove off without paying for $48.32 worth of gas.

•Larceny of gas on New Pointe Boulevard; suspect driving a Dodge Stratus with N.C. Registration XSF-8458 drove off without paying for $60 worth of gas.

•Larceny of gas on New Pointe Boulevard; suspect driving a black vehicle with N.C. Registration XRP-1233 drove off without paying for $52.88 worth of gas.

•Larceny of gas on New Pointe Boulevard; suspect driving a red Buick with N.C. Registration WZR-2053 drove off without paying for $47.35 worth of gas.

•Breaking and entering on Island Cove; victim reported someone broke into her residence between Aug. 2 and Aug. 5, which is unoccupied. Nothing was reported missing.
