Deputies arrested a Leland man after a person was stabbed and another was struck during a family dispute that escalated into a street fight Friday night outside Northwest.

William Edward Kelly, 33, of Tabrose Court, is charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, according to a news release from the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office.

Kelly is accused of stabbing a man with an unknown weapon and hitting a woman in the head with a wooden board during the fight, which happened about 6 p.m. on Grist Creek Wynd, sheriff’s office spokeswoman Emily Flax said.

Both victims were taken to an area medical center for treatment. Their injuries are not life-threatening, Flax said.

Kelly was taken into custody shortly after being located with the aid of Air One, Flax said.

He is being held in the Brunswick County Detention Facility on $2,000 bail.
