Leland police investigate theft ring

 Leland police have launched an investigation into an alleged theft ring from permitted construction sites in Leland.

The department’s investigations division has obtained warrants on a five-person larceny ring that includes more than 50 felony charges of larceny from a construction site, Lt. Joe Pierce wrote in a news release.

Among the charges are 51 felony counts of larceny from construction sites and 13 second-degree trespassing counts, and more charges are expected.
