The Leland Dixie Youth Majors baseball team has won its first two games in the Dixie Youth Baseball Majors World Series in Laurel, Miss.
Leland’s team of 12-year-olds opened the series by routing Florida (San Antonio Pasco) 11-1 Saturday night.
Leland, representing North Carolina in the 11-state tournament, scored four runs in the first inning, all with two outs, manager Bobby Scoggins said. Blaine Hollis hit a three-run home run.
“Pretty much everybody else contributed,” Scoggins said. “We had a good night hitting.”
