There are countless milestones young people encounter as they transition through high school. However, none of them may leave more lasting memories than prom.
For many Brunswick County girls, the costs associated with getting a prom dress and all its related accessories can be so high, it can completely eliminate the dream of a teenager’s rite of passage.
Luckily for this community, one woman’s mission to turn prom dreams into a reality has come to fruition. Gaye Fulford recently launched Wings of Love Prom Closet, a project of We Have a Mission (WHAM) from Dixon Chapel United Methodist Church.
Fulford said the project is a way for young people to know and see firsthand they can make a difference.
Fulford’s mission is likely to make a difference in the lives of many Brunswick County young ladies.
Through Wings of Love Prom Closet, donations are being accepted of formal wear, shoes, jewelry, clutch bags, shawls, wraps and other items girls can use to complete their prom attire.
Qualifying young women will get a chance to select their dress and related accessories at a special event at Odell Williamson Auditorium on April 3.
Why not get a jump on your spring cleaning and see what you can find in your closet? What’s being unworn for you could become a dream come true for a local high school girl.
Financial contributions are also being accepted.
