Local rock group to perform Nov. 8 in Longwood

A group of musicians and friends from the Ash area recently formed a rock band “Blackwater Outlaws” and will perform Nov. 8 at Big Woods ATV Park in Longwood.

The band members include Jason Coveyou, 28, of Ash on guitar and vocals; Myron Norris, 27, of Ash, on guitar and vocals; Travis Norris, 32, of Ash, on vocals; William Norris, 53, of Ash, on bass guitar and vocals; and Butch Register, 51, on drums.

The group was formed in early 2008, and Register and William Norris have played together in numerous bands in the past. The group has been informally playing together for about five years, and recently decided to make it official.

“We play almost any style of music—from beach to rock to country,” said Travis Norris. “We like good music and don’t really like to stereotype. We also write a good bit of our own music, and we call it swamp rock.”

Norris said the band shares similar tastes in music, especially Southern rock, beach and country, which makes it easier to select songs and write original music.
