Lunches are out of this world at Planet Fun's Starz Grille

Every day is lunch day at Starz Grille at Planet Fun, 349 Whiteville Road in Shallotte.

Upon landing at the popular game venue’s spaced-out eatery, earthlings have a universe of choices.

A $6.99 Express Lunch menu is offered daily from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. — unless you’re a lucky senior 60 years old or older, in which case the menu is available all day.

Touted as the best food on the planet, menu offerings include a choice of soup and salad, or soup or salad with half a club sandwich combo. The option consists of one trip to the salad bar and/or a choice of the grille’s own potato, roasted onion or she-crab soups.

The grille’s classic club sandwich is made with smoked turkey, ham, cheddar and jack cheeses topped with bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayo on Texas toast. It comes with house chips or fries and a pickle spear.

There’s also a Caesar chicken salad or Carolina fried chicken salad, a Carolina BBQ pulled pork’wich, a chicken tenders plate or a traditional BLT.

Other menu choices include hand-battered fish and chips, garden stir-fry consisting of fresh seasoned veggies sautéed in a teriyaki-soy glaze with rice pilaf, or a healthy grille consisting of fire-grilled chicken breast served with lettuce, onion and tomato on a toasted bun.

The Express Lunch special includes free soda, iced tea or coffee. A trip to the salad bar can be added for $2.50.

Special evening offerings available after 5 p.m. include all-you-can-eat crab legs for $26.99, two pounds of crab legs for $19.99 or seven-ounce filet mignon for $16.99 — while supplies last.

Sundays are country-buffet-and-salad-bar day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Church-goers bringing in the day’s bulletin from their church service get an extra heavenly 10 percent off their dining bill.

Tuesdays are family night, when kids eat free from the grille’s Little Dipper menu per each adult entrée purchase.

From 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays, two people can dine in for just $19.99 from a special menu.

And Fridays are karaoke night from 7 to 11 p.m. in the grille.

Regular menu offerings include an array of appeti-Starzers (potato skins or wings, anyone?), pizza and flatbread, Angus burgers, wraps and sandwiches, steaks and seafood, chicken and barbecue and a variety of sides.

Desserts are $3.99 each and include a cup of coffee. Offerings include brownie sundae, New York cheesecake, strawberry shortcake and seasonal pies and cakes.
