Mack Hewett

Mack Leon Hewett, of Shallotte, widower of Edith Eloise Parrish Hewett, passed away on Nov. 2, 2011, in Wilmington.
He was born on July 31, 1920, in Shallotte to Mattie Ruth and Warren Winslow Hewett.
He married Eloise on March 20, 1949, and they were married for 54 years before her death in 2003.
Mr. Hewett is survived by his four children, Jacquelyn Robinson and her husband Darryle, Mack Hewett Jr. and his wife Laura, David Hewett and his wife Cindy, and Amy Tanner and her husband Jeffrey.
Mack also leaves his grandchildren, Elisabeth Hunter, Annabelle Carter, Robbie Robinson, Zachary Hewett, Ian Hewett, Parker Tanner, Sam Tanner, Mattie Eloise Tanner, and Mack Hewett III.
Two great-grandchildren survive him, Oliver Carter and Henry Hunter.
Mr. Hewett was retired from the United States Air Force, having proudly served his country for 27 years. He entered the service shortly after the bombing of Pearl Harbor and fought in both World War II and the Korean War.
Funeral services with military honors for Mr. Hewett were at the graveside at Jennies Branch Baptist Church, N.C. 179/Ocean Isle Beach Drive at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4.
The family received friends directly after the service in the foyer of the church. Dr. Jim Everette III was the presiding pastor.
