Mail thefts reported in Sea Trail

Sunset Beach police are investigating a spate of mail thefts reported last week in Sea Trail.

Six residents of Ricemill Circle, Forest Creek Road, Baroney Place and Crooked Gulley Circle reported mail was removed from their mailboxes sometime Friday, Oct. 17.

Items reported stolen included bank checks, a DVD, and birthday and Halloween cards. One victim reported someone used his mail to fraudulently apply for a credit card in the victim's name.

Most of the victims are retirees.
