Man arrested for assault with a machete

ASH—An Ash man was arrested for assaulting a man with a machete last week.

Jose Simeon Barron, 51, of 32 Rubin Way, Ash, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon for cutting a man with a machete on Ace Ford Drive in Ash, according to a sheriff’s office incident report.

The man was not seriously injured, Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Sgt. April Stanley said.

Barron was taken to the Brunswick County Detention Center, where he was placed under a $500 secured bond.

Attempted breaking and entering at ABC store

A Candor man was arrested last week for attempting to break into the ABC in Supply near Holden Beach.

According to Stanley, Derrick Lenzie Griffin, 20, of 112 Richardson Drive, Candor, was charged with attempting breaking and entering for attempting to break into the Holden Beach Road ABC store. Stanley said Griffin attempted to enter the ABC store around 3 a.m. Friday, June 25.

Griffin was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted breaking and entering and one count of property damage. He was taken to the Brunswick County Detention Center, where he was placed under a $10,000 secured bond.

Man arrested for Ocean Isle Beach break-in

A Sunset Beach man was arrested for breaking into an Ocean Isle Beach home June 25.

Stanley said Brian Hugh Lawson, of 1724 Pembroke St., Sunset Beach, was arrested last week for breaking into a home on Eastbrook Avenue in Ocean Isle Beach.

Lawson was taken to the detention center, and placed under a $10,000 secured bond.
