An Ocean Isle Beach man has been charged with driving while impaired, driving while license revoked and failure to reduce speed in connection with a three-car wreck in Shallotte last week that sent one woman to a hospital and involved a school bus.
Leslie Wayne Jester Jr., 24, of 422 Kill Deer, Ocean Isle Beach, was taken to the Brunswick County Detention Center on a $3,000 secured bond after an officer who responded to the accident smelled alcohol on him and in his car, according to the police report.
The blood test for Jester’s blood alcohol level had not been returned to the police department at press time Tuesday.
Tina Sullivan High was driving a 2004 Oldsmobile on Whiteville Road and stopped for an off-loading school bus. Jester, driving a 2003 Ford, failed to stop and ran into High’s vehicle. Jester’s vehicle rolled three times and struck the stationary school bus in the westbound lane.
High was taken to Brunswick Community Hospital, where she was treated and released.
