Master Gardener class to begin Feb. 13

-A A +A

The Master Gardeners of Brunswick County offer a unique horticulture class for Brunswick County residents. The class provides the basic knowledge needed to maintain a yard/garden in the coastal plain of North Carolina.
The next scheduled class will start on Feb.13 and run through March 20. All classes begin at 9 a.m.
This class is shorter and less expensive than the Master Gardener class and contains less science and more “how to” content.
“A Day in the Yard” is offered for people wanting to increase knowledge of yard/garden maintenance in this zone but not wanting to involve themselves with the time commitment required of a Master Gardener.
Cost of the class is $75, with proceeds benefiting the Brunswick County Master Gardener Association.
The class consists of six 2.5-hour segments utilizing PowerPoint presentations and handouts. Each class is taught by a Master Gardener. The course is offered multiple times in the spring and fall of each year at the Cooperative Extension Training Center in Bolivia, Bldg. N.
Topics for the six segments include soil and fertilization; lawns and irrigation; woody ornamentals and pruning; annuals; bulbs and perennials; and insects and diseases and vegetables and fruits.
