McCumbee eighth at ARCA dirt-track race

Chad McCumbee finished eighth Monday in the ARCA Racing Series Southern Illinois 100 in DuQuoin, Ill.

McCumbee started 13th out of 33 drivers and completed all 100 laps on the dirt track. This was his third finish in the top 10 in 13 ARCA starts.

Steve Arpin won the race, his third career victory. Arpin took the lead from Tom Hessert on lap 62 of the 100-mile race and never relinquished it, beating Hessert to the checkered flag by a one-half second.

There were 11 cautions for 42 laps, and the average race speed was 72.735 mph.
