Valerie Burns, the woman whose body was found in a burning car in Leland on July 30, may have been alive when the car was set on fire, according to the medical examiner’s findings.
No arrests have been made, but Capt. Gene Caison with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, said detectives are following “strong leads.”
“We have some strong leads that we are pursuing that we feel confident about,” Caison said. “We feel good about the case that we’ll be able to bring a resolution to it.”
