Meo celebrates 95th birthday

Joe Meo celebrated his 95th birthday on May 5 at a birthday dinner given by his many nieces and nephews at The Brentwood Restaurant in Little River, S.C. In attendance with the guest of honor and his wife, Ann, were nieces Sera Accardi and Rosemarie Beyer, nephews Bob Beyer, Vincent Accardi and Vincent Accardi Jr., and friends Dennis and Joanne Schettino.
The Meos’ other nieces and nephews not in attendance include: Phyllis and George Dami from St. Albans, Maine; Gasper and Sharon Accardi from Pennsylvania; Chad and Kylie Accardi from New York; Christina and Chris Cappelli from Pennsylvania; Rudy, Rita, Matthew and Angelina Accardi from Hyde Park, N.Y.; Paula, Michaela and Catina Accardi from Alexandria, Va.; Tracy, Bill, Isabella and Will Heese from Danbury, Conn.; and several other nieces and nephews from New York and California.
Born on May 5, 1917, in Brooklyn, N.Y., Meo and Ann moved to Carolina Shores from New Jersey in 1986. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was recently recognized as a World War II honoree in Washington, D.C. An avid golfer who has shot his age more than once, he enjoys playing golf with his many friends several times a month. He is an active member of the Knights of Columbus at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in North Myrtle Beach, S.C.
