To the editor:
Is the message of the cross of little importance to you? “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” (1 Cor. 1:18)
What is the message of the cross? “Every man, woman and child is a sinner.” (Rom. 3:23)
“Jesus is the only perfect man. If anyone is to be saved it has to be through a perfect sacrifice.” (Leviticus 22:21)
“Jesus who knew no sin paid the price for our salvation becoming sin for us.” (2 Cor. 5:21) He died on the cross for us.
“Do you want to be closer to God but don’t understand anything you have heard that seems to be able to bring you closer? If you cry out to God that you want to know Him and be closer to Him, He will answer you.” (James 4:7-10)
“All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.” (John 6:37)
“Our efforts to merit God’s acceptance will not bring us closer.” (Ephes. 2:8,9)
“When you hear His voice do not harden your heart or wait until another time to respond. There may not be another chance.” (Heb. 3:13-15)
“God through His holy Spirit will lead you to the Cross and your Salvation through Jesus Christ. For there is no other name but the name of Jesus by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:10-12)
